School History

A committee consisting of six men and women for the Chandler First Church of the Nazarene (Marge Barnum, Adonna Cullumber, John Dick, Marion Egge, Bob Fetters and Bill Maybee) founded CCS in 1974. It was their desire to offer the best possible academic and Christian education as a non-profit, interdenominational outreach of their church. The school opened with seven students in Kindergarten and four students in Pre-Kindergarten. It continued to grow and add grades. Extended Care was added in 1983 and Junior High was added in 1993. Six principals, many school board members, numerous CCS staff, and countless parents and grandparents have devoted their energy to fulfilling the mission of Chandler Christian School, to unlock the individual potential of each student.

Today Chandler Christian School meets the needs of over 250 students from age three through 6th grade with a staff of about 31 dedicated men and women. It continues to provide an excellent education in a loving Christian environment. The students of CCS are Christian heroes in the making, being prepared both spiritually and academically to meet the perplexities of modern life.

SCHOOL BOARD
The school board governs Chandler Christian School. The school board consists of the pastor of Chandler First Church of the Nazarene, the school administrator and church members elected by the members of Chandler First Church of the Nazarene. The School Board is the policy making body of the school.

FUNDING SOURCES
Parents pay registration and tuition fees that pay for the basic educational costs per child. The very important “extras” must be added through donations and fund raising events. Staff support and encouragement are vital to the success of CCS fund raising. It is expected that all staff will support the fund raising process.

POPULATION SERVED
CCS serves a wide variety of families from Chandler and surrounding towns and rural areas, who are united by their support of the CCS statement of faith and philosophy of education.
